Fun Golf Lesson with Momoko ~Siam Country Club Waterside~

The Siam Country Club is where golfers’d like to play as soon as they get in Pattaya. It locates about 20-minute drive from the city of Pattaya and an hour and 45-minute drive from the city of Bangkok, and its Waterside Course was opened in 2014 for its third course following the Old Course and the Plantation Course. And once again Thai LPGA professional Momoko Aoyama gives fun lessons to beat the course centering on its signature hole.

■Does the turf differ from the Old and the Plantation?

The IMG design, the one of the world famous golf course design companies, designed the course, and Paspalum is used for the fairways and rough and the Bermuda is used for the greens.

Since it’s not as grainy as for the Old and Plantation, it is relatively easy to hit.

■The plenty of smooth sands in the Bunker

As the plenty sands in the banker are soft, you need to swing away to get out of it.

The important tip is that fixing the stance firmly and widely opening the clubface, then getting into the sand by the bounce of the club.

Just by named Waterside, there are 4 big ponds.

■Golf is not the game to hit long

Try to play carefully by planing the course management with mindfully checking the course layout to find the best position to land. And just focus on the solid swing for those who loosens or strains the swing by facing the pond in front of the green!

■The 8th hole, the tough par 5 with 530 yards

Play from the left side by avoiding the big pond on the right reaching to the around the green.

Putting secret: Read carefully, stroke fearlessly.

■The 17th:The shot over the pond from the dog leg is thrilling. Par4/360 yards

Has to have the careful huddle by seeing the layout.

As the pond is in parallel with the fairway, you can’t reach to the green by keeping the lay-ups. The accurate tee shot and the good distance control for the second shot make you feel a sense of accomplishment.

Even the flat layout, this signature hole is dramatic and thrilling.

■Too much avoiding the pond is not recommended! The par 5 18th with 547 yards

Try to hit the accurate tee shot by avoiding the pond due to the long yardage by avoiding the pond.

Still, the pond is so large.

Need to have both the distance control and accuracy for the fairway wood.
