Yasuko’s Let’s Enjoy! Thailand ~We have the hero helping us out of a desperate situation!? Riverdale Golf Club~

While the flat layouts are typical for the most of the golf courses near Bangkok, the Riverdale Golf Club located about 40 minutes from there by car has undulated layout, and golfers can enjoy the excitement. For this edition of “the Yasuko’s Let’s Enjoy! Thailand,” Nabe-pro has made an appearance to help her who has encountered the desperate situations, such as a high lip bunker shot and downslope over the bunker approach shot.

Nabe-pro: “I’m just an amateur golfer who manages golf tightly, but let himself go with the flow for his life.”

【Nabe-pro】

Manager of GDO golf team and member of the Kashimanomori Country Club who has played golf 15 years with handicap +2.6.

The Kashimanomori Open best amateur in 2014 and 2015. Medalist of 2015 Kanto Mid Amateur Golf Championship First Block. TheKashimanomori Country Club Champion in 2018.

Hole 6/ Par 5/ 552 yards. The tee shot should be kept on the fairway to avoid the greenside bunkers, but…

【Fairway Bunker】

Her tee shot went to the monster bunker she has to avoid anyway.

Nabe-pro immediately pointed out when she rushed to hit getting out of it in hurry.

“Have a right club by identifying the lie in the bunker. Don’t take a longer club as you have a little sand behind the ball.”

She could get out of it by thanking his tip.

【Island Green】

The signature hole. Par 3 8th.

The unique hole with selecting either the left side uphill and elevated green or the right side downhill and island green.

“While I visit to Thailand I choose the island green, indeed.” He found the green easily.

Yasuko hit the ball into the pond as usual.

【Approach shot from behind the green】

While we all know the iron rule of “keep the ball below the hole”, often hitting it behind the green to avoid the hazard in front of the green.

Adjust the stance along the slope and swing away while noticing the point to carry.

【High lip bunker】

The ball is almost buried into the sand. Is it possible to get out of it, even Nabe-pro!?

He said “don’t open the face of the club and hit 1 cm behind the ball just like to stop the swing at impact to avoid the club sticking in the sand! Aiming to the right as the ball tends to go left”.

Great shot as he planed!

This is the par 4 17th after his tips. You can go for birdie as it is 297 yards from the white tee.

Nabe-pro pumped up to swing.

His tee shot went to the right side bunker against his will. Although he tried to reach the green by the tee shot and to make birdie, he ended up by making bogey as facing the desperate situation by himself at the very last. Nabe-pro went to the driving range after the round, leaving his remorse word; “I know lay-up is better choice for the game”.

Review your round at the driving range where you can hit the ball from the turf. Thank you so much, Nabe-pro!!
