“Tadaharu’s Fineshot in Thailand” – Easy Access from Bangkok! Muang Kaew Golf Course
Social renown, levels of maintenance, course difficulty, cost… these are some of the criteria that we place at the top of our list when globetrotting for golf. Another one that makes the list is ease of access. The hotel you’ll be staying in as well as the city, along with accessibility to the nearest airport are all important factors to consider when choosing a golf course.
Muang Kaew Golf Course is so easy to access that I’ll start off by showing you the map.
Bangkok is the undisputed hub for Japanese golfers traveling to Thailand. This favorably located course is a 40-minute drive from downtown Bangkok, as well as a 20-minute drive from the gateway to the skies between Japan and Thailand – Suvarnabhumi Airport.
So what about the course, you ask? Not to worry! Opened in 2003, this course was designed by the world-renowned Lee Schmidt of Schmidt-Curley. The fusion of western course architecture and the craft for Thai maintenance are made apparent by the level of quality at which this course is kept.
The fairway is pretty flat and relatively wide. Yet, where you setup your second shot can make or break your scoring, advanced and veteran golfers will find the layout to be plenty satisfying.
Lee Schmidt’s ingenuity shows in the unique design of the bunkers.
On to the hole profiles. Be sure to refer to these profiles when you visit Muang Kaew!
Lastly, the crucial cuisine. When you’re in Thailand, it’s all about this hot dish!
