“Yasuko’s Let’s Enjoy Thailand – Phuket Special” #03 Red Mountain Golf Club

I heard this was “the most exciting golf course in Phuket”, and it was just that, if not more.

Hole 18 – Par 5, 525 Yards. A truly beautiful but challenging layout

Built over an old tin mining site, Red Mountain Golf Club features bare hills, some areas in which exposed red soil can be seen.

Hole 1 – Par 4, 366 Yards. A perfect open to a dramatic round. A distinguishing rock dominates the backdrop of the green.

As light hits the mighty ravine, and shadows weave a marvelous picture, I find myself entranced, just gazing.

Hole 1 bathes in the morning light

The use of pesticides is kept to a minimum in order to protect wild birds, but you’ll never guess it from the pristine level of upkeep. From bunker to green, the handiwork is pervasively apparent.

Hole 14 – Par 3, 172 Yards. Grand views and a detailed layout. The conditions leave nothing left to desire.

Your rounds will feel private and intimate, with no overlapping layouts throughout the 18 holes, all while being surrounded by forest trees and mountains.

Hole 9 – Par 4, 332 Yards. Isolated from other holes, you’ll be able to play without feeling the presence of other groups.

Careful when driving your cart down steep hills!!

Since opening its doors in 2007, it has received numerous awards including “Platinum Golf Course of the Year” by Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards, “Best Course in Thailand” by Asian Golf Awards, “Top 10 Best Golf Course” by The Best of Thailand Awards, and “Top 100 Golf Courses in Asia” by Pacific Links International.

Hole 16 – Par 4, 283 Yards. It’s tempting to go for a long hitter, but bushes await on either side. Enjoy the view as the teeing ground approaches Chalong Bay.

Hole 17– Par 3, 155 Yards. An impressive hole you’ll never forget. The feeling you get as your shot drops 50 meters down onto the green below is hard to contain.

Hole 18 – Par 5, 525 Yards. This hole has no wiggle room and demands nothing less than precise shots every time.

The astounding scenery will be etched into your mind and the diverse range of holes will keep the round exciting. All-encompassing and demanding for all levels, this course gives the overcoming golfer a chance at the pearly gates. It’s a course that has become a landmark for being “the most exciting course in Phuket”.

After a heart-pounding round, satiate your hunger with Gapao Rice, a Red Mountain specialty.

You win the “Best Caddie Smile” award!!

Thailand Golf Travel Mart 2018(TGTM2018)

The reason I came to Red Mountain Golf Club this year was to participate in the TGTM 2018, an annual event hosted by the Tourism Authority of Thailand. This event was organized to put a spotlight on Thai golf courses and resorts, and was attended by representatives from travel agencies, golf courses, hotels, and media from over 30 countries. According to 2016 statistics, over 400,000 golfers visit Thailand yearly, generating 4.88 billion baht (approx. JPY 17 billion) in tourism revenue. This helps the initiative to promote Thailand as an ideal location for golfing.

Red Mountain Golf Club

Only 30-minutes from Phuket International Airport, 15-minutes from Phuket Town, or 10-minutes from Patong Beach, this club is easily accessible and is ideal for travelers with not a lot of spare time.
