Have a heart leaping moment at where golfers admire…The Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course
The Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course is a prestigious golf course created by Dr. Thaworn Phornprapha, founder of the Siam Motors, who had been called the Car King of Thailand. From 2007, it has been the stage of the Honda LPGA Thailand, and many golf fans still remember the tournament in 2010 which Ai Miyazato who started the final round with 6 shot back and won. Everyone who visits the course is surprised by the beauty of the landscape of the planted trees and flowers, as well as perfect maintenance of the greens and the fairways, so that you can spend a happy moment of joy on this course.
The Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course opened in 1971 by Mr. Ikkai Izumi’s design, has a history of more than 40 years. The course was renewed by Mr. Lee Schmidt of Schmidt-Kalley Design Office in 2007 and while it has a somewhat Japanese atmosphere, it’s a challenging layout that allows you to enjoy thrilling traps set everywhere on the course.
This course takes advantage of the terrain cut open in the mountain area in the Pattaya region, and a moderately undulating fairways, thick and tall trees, and deep bunkers enhance its difficult level. Since you stand in a classic traditional tree line and are able to enjoy a challenging layout while thinking a lot of history, it is a land of longing for many golfers. But, if you cannot hit an accurate shot, it is hard to make a good score and it will be tough to enjoy the beautiful landscape.
Because of being in the mountainous area, while there are few ponds unlike other Thai courses, a total of 101 bunkers waits for you. If you shot into these bunkers, the big trouble is positive and you should be careful for them.
Since the finishing #18 is particularly tough around the green, you would have a tension that can not escape until the moment you finish your round. The undulation is severe than it looks, and even if you try to avoid getting the back of the green and try getting the front, the approach shot will being dropped from the front of the green.
Also, the driving range has a 300 yards from the turf tees, and there are approach green, bunkers, and putting greens. So, it is a perfect practice environment like a tournament course.
Enjoying the course around Bangkok is a classic way for golf in Thailand, but extend your feet to Pattaya and The Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course is recommended.
